Facilities Management Committee

The Facilities Management Committee is responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of the Church building, grounds, furnishings, equipment, and art. The Committee makes recommendations to the Church Board on matters related to facilities use and budget, capital improvements, insurance, technical and aesthetic design.

Social Justice and Witness Committee

The Social Justice and Witness Committee is responsible for the Church’s covenant with the UCC through the Conference, as well as other ecumenical partnerships. The Committee shall initiate and coordinate activities of social concern which promote Christian compassion and justice. The Committee shall recommend a budget and calendar of special mission offerings to the Board. socialjustice@fcceugene.org

Stewardship Committee

The Stewardship Committee educates the Church about the meaning of Christian stewardship, as well as plans and coordinates an annual enlistment of financial pledges. stewardship@fcceugene.org

Pastoral Relations Committee

The Pastoral Relations Committee supports and maintains an open relationship between the Ministers and members of the Congregation. Acting within an atmosphere of confidentiality, the Committee serves as support group for the ministers and assists in developing solutions in areas of conflict involving the Ministers.

Preschool Committee

The Preschool Committee is responsible for overseeing the Preschool. The Preschool is ordinarily financially self-supporting and provides a scholarship program. The Preschool is open to the community, but children of First Congregational members will be given priority in registration. The Preschool does not teach religious doctrine. Preschool Committee members need not be active in the Church.  

Personnel Committee

The Personnel Committee works with the Staff, Board and Senior Minister. The committee develops personnel policies, assists with hiring as requested by the Senior Minister, develops a process for evaluations, receives complaints or grievances, and assists with developing the budget concerning compensation and benefits. It consists of the Senior Minister, a board member, and at least two other members of the congregation.

Endowment Committee

The Endowment Committee promotes a program of planned giving and manages an endowment of gifts and bequests for the purpose of supporting the church. It consists of the Senior Minister, the Moderator and seven additional members who will be appointed by the Board to serve three-year terms, with a limit of two consecutive terms.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee provides overall coordination and oversight of financial matters on behalf of the church board including: reviewing and updating FCC Financial Policies, assuring FCC’s financial reporting system complies with all State and Federal laws, developing and implementing a financial auditing process, and preparation of the annual budget for approval by the church board and by the congregation. Membership includes the Treasurer, two representatives from the congregation and a representative from the Endowment Committee, Stewardship Committee, Personnel Committee and Facilities Committee, the Board Vice-Moderator. The Senior Minister, and church Bookkeeper serve as Ex-Officio non-voting members of the Finance Committee. With the exception of the Treasurer, (a designated position), and the Vice-Moderator, (an elected position), committee representatives are expected to serve three-year terms. Terms will be staggered, two representatives off/two representatives on, each year.

Executive Leadership Committee

The Executive Leadership Committee handles matters that do not require a full board meeting and matters that need action to be taken between board meetings. The committee follows board guidelines and directives. The committee sets the agenda for board meetings, conducts Senior Minister evaluations, provides a rapid response when issues arise suddenly, and develops recommendations for board action. The Executive Committee consists of the Moderator, Vice Moderator, and Senior Minister. The Past Moderator may be asked to attend as a source of historical continuity. The Moderator schedules the meetings and serves as the chairperson.

Worship Committee

The Worship Committee co-coordinators assist in the preparation and leadership of worship services, the sacraments of the church, and oversee the music ministry of the church. Members of the Worship Committee are the Senior Minister, Music Director, a church board member, the audio/visual specialist, an altar layout representative, head usher, and two congregation members.
