A small group convened January 26 to reimagine Pastoral Care at FCC. This group included Pastor Nancy, Youth Minister Mark Lindberg, Seminarian Beth Pfeiffer and Board Moderator Dan Close. The goal of this meeting was to discuss ways that the larger congregation could become engaged in pastoral care. We initially agreed to term our efforts Tending our Flock.
During a robust discussion we focused our efforts on five main ministries. These include: visitations and musical offerings to FCC members, family and friends in the hospital and in assisted, supported or adult living settings; home visits and musical offerings to persons ill, in convalescence, or unable to travel outside the home; rides to church; delivery of nutritious meals (meal trains); and planning and scheduling memorial services.
We are seeking people to visit, listen and pray with members; pray, sing or make music with ill members; make and deliver meals; provide transportation; and participate in memorial services for members of FCC. Please let us know if you are at all interested in being part of this ministry here at FCC. Would you like to be involved in providing Pastoral Care? Please contact Dan Close or Dana Clark and let them know if you have any questions about how to get involved or if you would like to participate in any of the above ministries. We are excited about the new opportunities this ministry will provide both the volunteers and the people who are served by our congregation’s commitment to caring for others.
