The Night Shelter at St. Vincent de Paul’s Annex will be different this year. Because of COVID, we are unable to physically be in the building. We are asked to bring food on Wednesday’s and Thursday’s for dinners only. For other days and for all mornings, meals are prepared by their staff five nights a week.
The FCC Shelter Committee has offered to provide two meals a week from the middle of February to the middle of March, providing a home cooked meal one day and a ready-made dinner the other. We will assess how this works and consider extending our service for longer.
The FCC Shelter Committee will shop for pre-made dinners for Wednesday’s meal. The shoppers will also pick up some perishable foods each week like fresh fruits, vegetables, and milk.
There are 3 ways you can participate:
- COOK – make an assigned dinner casserole on specific Thursdays
- BUY – Donate specific non-perishables on Feb. 14, collected at FCC lower parking lot (The Annex receives items from Food for Lane County, so First Congregational Church will be supplementing the shelter’s pantry with non-perishables).
- DONATE – funds
