Every year FCC offers our graduating seniors the opportunity to apply for the Elkins Nelson Student Grant, an Endowment Fund of the church. The purpose of the grant is to financially assist graduating high school students who pursue undergraduate degrees, vocational training or certification.
All active seniors are invited to apply for this grant award. Funds from the Endowment Fund will be distributed to selected students each year at the FCC Congregational Meeting in June. Grants are one-time awards and are not renewable.
Criteria for Selection: Applicants must be a current high school senior student who plans to enter an undergraduate or vocational program; who exhibits moral awareness, social concern and leadership capability; and who has been active in the life of First Congregational United Church of Christ Eugene. The applications are available each spring.
May you each find blessing in the presence of the Holy Mystery, as you turn the page and enter this new and exciting chapter of your life…our hearts and prayers go with you!

In 2020 two seniors received scholarships totaling $2,000, and in 2019 there were seven recipients dividing $3,500. This program is a commitment that growing as a young person in our church means one continues as part of the church family as you take your values into the world. Givers to the Endowment in the past have designated funds for this specific program and anyone can still make such a designation. Donations to the scholarship program enable our church to send students out with a mantel of church support.
