The church book club begins discussion of The Book of Joy on September 19. We meet on Zoom Mondays at 10 a.m.(The Zoom link is available in the Daily All Church Emails). This New York Times best seller describes a meeting between two Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.

In April 2015, Archbishop Tutu traveled to the Dalai Lama’s home in Dharamsala, India, to celebrate His Holiness’s eightieth birthday and to create what they hoped would be a gift for others. They looked back on their long lives to answer a single burning question: How do we find joy in the face of life’s inevitable suffering?

The introduction describes this book as their “quest to understand joy.” The conversations in this book explore “many of the most profound subjects in life…in search of true joy that [is] not dependent on the vicissitudes of circumstance.” What message could possibly be more important to us today and who could possibly be better able to deliver it?

All are welcome! Come and explore and discover with your church community. Contact Don Brasted-Maki, who will be facilitating this book club offering, if you are interested or have any questions.
