Spirit is Moving: Preparing for Our New Program Year

As we step into September we are filled with gratitude for the vibrant life moving through First Congregational Church. Although the Board did not hold a formal meeting in August due to summer travels, our search committees and leadership have been working faithfully behind the scenes to prepare for a wonderful new church year.

We are thrilled to celebrate our growing staff team! Andrea Rhoades joined us on August 12 as Financial and Business Administrator, and Sybil Donley stepped into an expanded role as Children and Middle School Ministry Coordinator on August 1.

Please mark your calendars for two key events this month:

September 13 – Celebration Sunday: Join us as we celebrate the start of the church year with fellowship! FCC will provide burgers and hot dogs with all the fixings.

September 20 – Associate Pastor Recommendation and Vote: The Search Committee and Board unanimously recommend Rev. Mark Lindberg to serve as our Settled Associate Pastor. Mark will preach at the 10 a.m. service, followed immediately by a formal Congregational Meeting and vote in the Sanctuary to extend a call.

Finally, your Worship Committee invites you to participate in the 2026 Worship Survey, open through September 30. Available online or via paper copies in the church office, this anonymous survey gives everyone an opportunity to share feedback on our typical Sunday worship experience.

Our committees are turning out exciting ideas, and our staff – new and old alike – are contributing in wonderful ways. Watch your daily emails and Shalom for more details as we enter this joyful season together!

Tony Foy, Board Moderator

Please note, we are returning to our regular meeting schedule on September 16; board meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month from 5 to 7 p.m. All members are welcome.
