Our 2026 Sierra Service Project (SSP) team spent the first week of August in Del Norte County, California —ancestral land of the Tolowa Dee -ni’ people. They helped build safer structures, tended gardens that nourish communities, and restored sacred lands.

To explain more about the history of this area, a graphic novel is now available as a learning resource. How Did We Get Here? Del Norte & Tribal Lands explores the history, challenges, and resilience of the diverse communities in Del Norte County and surrounding tribal lands. Click the link to read it and discuss with our youth about their experience with SSP.
