The Music Ministries team at First Congregational Church has been going strong over the past month. The FCC Chancel Choir has been busy preparing to present at least five pieces on Christmas Eve at the 8 p.m. service. We have some beautiful and inspiring music to share, so don’t miss it! Vicki will lead the music for an intimate 11 p.m. Christmas Eve service that will usher in Christmas.

For all who are in need of comfort this season, Vicki will provide Taizé music during the Service of Healing on December 16 at 7 p.m.

Music Ministries continues to assess our practices as we work to operate as safely and sensibly as possible. This past Sunday, we had a first since March of 2020… singing as a congregation together again! From the organ, Barbara fervently led us in the advent hymn “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” a fitting hymn for these times. It was a sacred moment. Going forward, we will be singing a closing hymn together as a congregation, with an eye on incorporating an opening hymn in the future.

The middle school and high school youth groups continue to meet once a month for a ukulele lesson and we are looking forward to sharing a song with the congregation sometime in the new year. Additionally, as younger children get vaccinated, we will be working on a plan to bring the children’s choir back into action, so keep an eye out for that.

We have much to look forward to during this Advent season and in the coming year. If you have been thinking of participating in any of Music Ministries’ offerings, now is a great time to join the Chancel Choir or the Bell Choir as we prepare for Christmas.
