Award-winning folk-rock artist Namoli Brennet will perform on Saturday, October 3 at 7 p.m., at First Congregational United Church of Christ in the Sanctuary. The public is invited. A trans woman and longtime advocate for people who are LGBTQIA+, Namoli’s lyrics reflect themes of self-acceptance, authenticity, and social justice, which attract both American and European audiences.

“I am excited to be coming back to Oregon,” Namoli writes. “The Pacific Northwest is one of my favorite parts of the country. Eugene, being one of the first stops on my earliest tour back in 2003, has a special place in my heart. I’m honored to be invited back and looking forward to a beautiful and meaningful show.”

Since the production of her first album Boy in a Dress in 2002, Namoli has produced more than a dozen albums. NPR and OPB have featured her work. And she is a four-time nominee for the Outmusic award, dedicated to those who advance LGBTQIA+ music and culture. She’s a recipient of the Tucson Folk Festival Songwriting Award (2007) and performed and wrote the music for the Emmy-award-winning documentary Out In The Silence (2009) that narrates the struggle of a gay teen growing up in rural Pennsylvania.

Admission: Freewill offering with a suggested donation of $20, but contributions of any amount will be gratefully accepted.

Namoli also will perform at the 10 a.m. church service on Sunday, October 4.
