The ritual of lighting candles during Sunday morning worship has become a meaningful act of embodied prayer for many in our congregation. Often, nearly all 80 candles at the prayer tables in the front of the sanctuary are lit. To help accommodate the growing use of prayer candles, the Worship Committee is inviting us to embrace the idea that One Flame Can Represent Many Prayers.

As you come to the table, take a moment to gather the prayers on your heart — prayers of hope, grief, gratitude, love, longing, remembrance, and whatever else you carry within you. Then, light one candle as a symbol of those many prayers. One flame can hold all that is in your heart.

Thank you for helping us keep our sanctuary a safe and welcoming place of worship.
