Starting January 17

Catholic Worker has been providing food to the homeless in Washington / Jefferson Park since 2003. Several FCC members have been involved in this effort for several years. Though the group has undergone many iterations, and will soon become Breakfast Brigade, it continues to serve our most vulnerable population with a hot meal at 9 a.m. and a sack lunch to have for later in the day. Many of the clients are ineligible for SNAP, SSI, or any other public assistance.

This team of breakfast angels have counted on the good will of volunteers to make meals, serve food and distribute blankets, tarps and clothing. Most recently, a loyal group from Marcola, which has made 100 peanut butter and jam sandwiches a week, has shifted their focus. They will be starting their own homeless project closer to home. Many thanks for all their support and prayers for their continued success, but now volunteers are needed to make sandwiches.

Starting Tuesday, January 17 and every Tuesday thereafter from 2 to 3:30 p.m., we will be making sandwiches in the FCC kitchen. Join us in making a difference any Tuesday afternoon.
