At a time when much of the news feels heavy, it’s a gift to be able to share good news—stories of community, courage, and faith lived out in public ways. Our congregation did just that at the Palm Sunday Day of Action. With banners and “Love Your Neighbor” t-shirts, we joined faith communities across Oregon to offer a visible witness for justice, love, and inclusion rooted in our Christian tradition. Our presence mattered—it was noticed, and even sparked interest from someone searching for a church that lives these values. Thank you to everyone who organized, marched, sang, supported, and joined in spirit.
At our most recent board meeting, the Board also reaffirmed our commitment to Ecumenical Ministries of Oregon. Over time, this partnership has been an important way we join with other faith communities to advocate for those who are marginalized and to serve people in need across our state. Renewing our support reflects our shared history of working together for peace, justice, and the healing of God’s creation—and our intention to continue that work into the future.
Finally, the Board voted to establish an Ad Hoc Communications Team, led by Lynn Egli. This team is exploring thoughtful and creative ways to better tell the story of who we are—our beliefs, our work, and our values—both within our congregation and beyond it. Clear, faithful communication is one more way we bear witness in the world. And in challenging times, helping good news be heard is work worth doing.
And speaking of good news, we are happy to welcome Averyn Payne back after a short leave. It is good to have you back.
