At First Congregational Church our vision is a just, compassionate, and peaceful world that honors all of God’s creation.

The Social Justice and Witness Committee initiates and coordinates actions that further First Congregational Church’s vision of a just, compassionate, and peaceful world that honors all of God’s creation. The committee and its working groups focus on supporting those who are experiencing hunger or who are unhoused or at risk of losing housing.  We work to support immigrants and asylum seekers as well as support global missions.  We work to support at risk children and youth, and those who face discrimination and racism.  We seek to educate our church and our community about mental health needs and to create a safe environment for all.  Finally, we work to address the climate crisis through education and advocacy.  All are invited to join the work of the larger committee or the working groups that focus on a specific need.

Working groups include:

  • The Green Team
  • Open and Affirming Team
  • Mental Health Team
  • Indigenous Peoples Working group
  • Refugee and Asylum support
  • Global Mission
